The Chancellor Livingston Chapter of the NSDAR was formed Dec. 10, 1917 by Mrs. Theodore de Laporte. The Chapter headquarters are located in the General Richard Montgomery House, the oldest frame house in the Village of Rhinebeck. It has an accredited museum, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Rhinebeck Village Historic District, is listed on the NYS Revolutionary War Heritage Trail and is open to the public by appointment and on Saturday afternoons in the summer. Membership is open to female descendants of patriots of the American Revolution. Regular meetings are held each month. Since its founding, the chapter has been gathering genealogical and historical artifacts and materials. The items which have been cataloged may be studied by arrangement with the Chapter Librarian, or at Rhinebeck's Starr Library History Room.
